Acephate and methamidophos residues in greenhouse and in field grown tomatoes Horticultura Brasileira
Trevizan,Luiz Roberto P.; Baptista,Gilberto C. de; Papa,Geraldo.
Increasing horticultural production under protected cultivation requires more detailed studies about the occurence of pesticide residues, due to the special and peculiar environment under controlled conditions, in which some pests, that are of little concern in the field, become important. The insecticide acephate and its methamidophos metabolite residues were evaluated in greenhouse-grown tomatoes and compared to an open-field tomato crop. The treatments: (a) check; (b) one application of 75 g a.i. acephate.100 L-1 water; (c) one application of 150 g a.i.100 L-1 water; (d) four applications of 75 g a.i.100 L-1 water were evaluated. Fruit, leaf and soil samples were taken at (-1), zero, 1, 3, 7, 14, 21 days after the last or only application. The...

Análise das violações encontradas em alimentos nos programas nacionais de monitoramento de agrotóxicos. Infoteca-e

CONSUMER WILLINGNESS TO PAY FOR REDUCED PESTICIDE RESIDUES IN TOMATOES: THE TURKISH CASE AgEcon
Akgungor, Sedef; Miran, Bulent; Abay, Canan.
The paper investigates the Turkish consumers' willingness to pay for a label that guarantees that pesticide residues in foods do not cause health problems. Contingent valuation survey was conducted to 1005 randomly selected households to elicit tomato purchasing behavior under alternative prices and residue scenarios. A tobit model was used to estimate a demand model. To determine the probability of purchase, a probit model was estimated.

Deltamethrin residues applied in different formulations in staked cucumber and the actions of insecticides on the pickleworm control Horticultura Brasileira
Baptista,Gilberto C de; Trevizan,Luiz Roberto P; Franco,André A; Silva,Renato A da.
Pesticide residues, especially in vegetables and fruits, are a reason for concern with respect to the health of consumers and workers that need to return to areas that have been treated with these agrochemicals. The objectives of this experiment were to (a) study the behavior of deltamethrin residues from different formulations on cucumber fruits; and (b) correlate insecticide contents in the fruits with pickleworm control. Treatments were as follows: (a) control; (b) three 30 mL applications of deltamethrin 25 EC 100 L-1 water (emulsifiable concentrate formulation); (c) three 7.5 mL applications of deltamethrin 100 EC 100 L-1 water (emulsifiable concentrate); and (d) three 3.75 mL applications of deltamethrin 200 CS 100 L-1 water (concentrate suspension)....

Influence of repeated applications of glyphosate on its persistence and soil bioactivity PAB
Andréa,Mara Mercedes de; Peres,Terezinha Bonanho; Luchini,Luiz Carlos; Bazarin,Sheila; Papini,Solange; Matallo,Marcus Barifouse; Savoy,Vera Lucia Tedeschi.
Pesticide degradation studies are essential to evaluate its impact in the environment and on non-target organisms. The effect of repeated soil applications of the herbicide glyphosate on its dissipation and on soil microorganisms was studied by radiometric and microbial techniques. Results indicated fast dissipation of the [14C]-glyphosate or [14C]metabolites extractable residues (half-life of 0.92±0.29 month), but increasing half-lives of total mineralization ranging from 2.2 to 3.4 months as the number of applications increased from 1 to 4. No significant correlation was found between 14CO2 production and dehydrogenase activity.

LC-MS/MS analysis of neonicotinoid insecticides: Residue findings in chilean honeys Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Bridi,Raquel; Larena,Arturo; Pizarro,Paula Núñez; Giordano,Ady; Montenegro,Gloria.
ABSTRACT Neonicotinoids are a relatively new generation of insecticides that have been used for control of pests such as aphids, leafhoppers and whiteflies. This paper presents for the first time a determination of residues of four neonicotinoid insecticides (acetamiprid, thiamethoxam, thiacloprid and imidacloprid) in Chilean honey using QuEChERS extraction and UHPLC-MS/MS analysis. The limits of detection and quantification found for all analytes ranging from 0.34 to 1.43 μg kg-1 and from 0.30 to 4.76 μg kg-1, respectively. The extraction using QuEChERS method provided recoveries over 79% and the precision showed coefficient of variation lower than 20%. These data are in agreement with the international criteria that recommend general recovery limits of...

Organochlorine pesticides in residues in waters from the coastal area of Dar es Salaam and their effect on aquatic biota OceanDocs
Mwevura, H.; Othman, O.C.; Mhehe, G.L..
Water samples were collected from Msimbazi and Kizinga rivers in Dar es Salaam and from the coastal marine environment receiving waters from these rivers during both the wet season and the dry season and analysed for various organochlorine pesticide residues using GC-ECD. The pesticides p,p’-DDE, p,p’-DDT, dieldrin and g-HCH were the only organochlorines detected at significantly greater concentrations above detection limits. There was a marked difference on the frequency of pesticide residue detection during the two seasons. All the wet season samples and 37.5% of the dry season samples contained p,p’-DDE at concentrations ranging from 0.05 to 0.45mg/l and 0.08 to 0.20mg/l respectively. p,p’-DDT was detected in 25% of the dry season samples at a...
